‘Sanju’ Movie Review: Reality in reel?

Sanju is a thrilling experience in itself. The movie is a great mixture of comedy and emotions. There are many scenes which will actually break your heart but will also create a smile on your face. Before talking about the movie, let’s talk about some reasons why ‘Sanju’ is a must watch.

Ranbir Kapoor

There is no doubt that Ranbir is one of the finest actors of our generation. He has given some amazing performances in his previous movies including Rockstar, Barfi, Tamasha and Wake up Sid.  In the movie, Ranbir stepped in Sanjay’s shoes in such a perfect manner that in some scenes it was really hard to believe that he is just playing Sanjay’s character. The acting is very natural and impeccable. His hard work on his voice and body language is flawless.

Music

The music of any movie plays a vital role in the movie. Not just the beats, but the timing of the song is also important. Considering this, the makers and the music directors did the best job with the songs. The lyrics of ‘Kar Har Maidan Fateh’ are very motivating and the filming makes it perfect. The movie also had A.R Rehman as the guest composer who created the song ‘Ruby’. The song will give you a vintage feel.

Supporting actors

Apart from Ranbir as the lead, the film had some very talented supporting actors like Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma and Jim Sarbh. Most of them appeared for a brief time in the movie but definitely made a heavy impact on the audience.

Director

How can someone miss a movie directed by Raj Kumar Hirani? Hirani has definitely made his position in the Bollywood with his amazing works which include major blockbusters like 3 idiots, Munnabhai MBBS and PK. The name of this person is enough to bring the audience to the movie theatres.

There have been times when some makers actually destroyed the real definition of biography. Sanju will definitely bring your faith back into Bollywood. Characters in the film are very well written and played.

The movie takes you to the rollercoaster ride of Sanjay Dutt’s life. It becomes really hard to imagine that a person actually had a life like that and is still a living legend. People had a perception of him in their minds for a long time and this movie was really important to make them rethink. The film has portrayed a beautiful relationship between Sanjay Dutt and his father Sunil Dutt. There are so many disturbing and unbelievable scenes which are really hard to digest.

The movie has also tried to shed some light on sensationalism by media. It points towards the careless attitude of media which prints/shows whatever they want to without going in the depth of the subject. People often believe things which they read in the newspapers or view on any broadcast media. But to what extent is this right?

The film will definitely leave you with curiosity, confusion, tears and a smile.
