As someone who struggles with depression, I take my mental health seriously and have always strived to spread awareness on various mental health issues through my writing. This particular Wes Anderson offering follows the shenanigans of one Monseuir Gustave, who is the concierge of the aforementioned hotel & lives to serve his guests’ every need (he puts the bed in ‘bed & breakfast’, dear me) & his loyal lobby boy Zero who lives to serve Monsieur Gustave’s every need, be it covering up crime or breaking him out of prison in ways that I won’t reveal here, cuz I ain’t no snitch.

The decision to watch ‘Flatliners’ came from that one time I was on a ‘Lonely Island’ binge & came across Andy Samberg’s underrated mockumentary ‘Popstar’ & one of the characters played by the great Bill Hader just randomly brought up this movie briefly. Its outlandish concept was enough to make me want to check it out. A bunch of med students taking turns to stop their hearts in order to pay a visit to the afterlife, then restarting their hearts, only to end up dealing with the consequences of whatever’s unleashed from the land of the dead… What’s not to love, eh?
