But there was complete silence, no words uttered. The Silent era was indeed a smashing yet transitory presence in the history of cinema, now leaving us craving a piece of it. In a time where synchronised recorded sounds were out of reach, the ‘Silent era’ came to be, with the first ever narrative film, ‘The Great Train Robbery’ in the early 90s being a silent one.
