Love stories have always fascinated the Indian audience. Love needs sacrifices, is one of the things which the short film ‘Jutti’ talks about. It is a romantic story which portrays that love can happen in the most unexpected ways, at the most unexpected places with the most unexpected people. The film is based on the Story of a shopkeeper (Harry) who sells juttis (sandals) in Kasauli and falls in love with one of her customers.
He not only gives free sandals to her but when she comes back to Harry’s shop again with her friends, he agrees to provide them juttis at a discounted price. His efforts make the girl fall in love with him. That is how a sweet love story begins! The movie also focuses on the fact that when you are in love, boundaries like income, profile, religion and linguistic differences does not matter.
Chutney
A thriller drama with lots of twists and turns defines the short film perfectly. Chutney, actually, is an Indian dish which is a combination of sweet, salty and sour tastes and so is the movie. The plot talks about a married man (Adil Hussain) who falls in love with a married woman (Rashika Dugal) and his wife (Tisca Chopra) comes to know their affair. The way she treats her husband’s lover is the most entertaining part of the story which is full of spicy twists.
The movie has a multi-layered storyline. Two stories are portrayed in a parallel way (one from the past and another from the present) so that the audience can know easily establish the connection between the past and the present. The actors have performed exceptionally well with a fabulous direction and storyline by Jyoti Kapur Das. The sweet and spicy loop of this movie makes it worth watching.
It is a must watch the film for the people who love drama and thriller movies.
The school bag
The School Bag is an emotional and heart touching film by Dheeraj Jindal. The movie is based on true events and talks about the terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan which took place in December, 2014. The film beautifully depicts a mother-child relationship between the protagonists of the story. It talks about a boy named Farooq (Sartaj Kakkar) who asks his mother (Rashika Dugal) to provide him with a new bag for his seventh birthday.
The mother, after teasing him for a day, brings a new school bag as a present for the boy. Farooq starts jumping with joy unknown to the fact that some threatening surprises are waiting for him in the school. The mesmerizing acting, storytelling and screenplay make it a masterpiece. It is a must watch the short film because it not only has won many hearts but many awards too.
Juice
The film accurately describes the condition of women (typically the housewives) in middle-class society. The plot is based on the sick mentality that woman are made to manage all the household chores while the man of the house has the right to enjoy his life after coming back to home from his workplace.
In the story, a man invites his friends to his house for dinner along with their families. The lady keeps on making preparations for the party even in her bad health conditions. The man not only treats his wife like a servant but ignores her efforts completely. The lady after facing such ill-treatment by her husband takes a step forward to bring a change and this step not only creates a twist in the film but also, makes the film worth watching.
The step taken by the woman influences the other ladies in the house and the society and also, inspires them to take a step against the injustice being done with them from hundreds of years. The movie should be watched by every woman of this society as they would easily relate to the protagonist of the story.
