R.Balki and Big B have worked together in films such as ‘Paa’ and ‘Cheeni Kum’ earlier, so Shamitabh should be a film worth watching and marks the debut of Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan.

The introduction to Shamitabh seems interesting, especially the play on the names of the actors. Earlier, actor Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly chosen for Dhanush’s role and the character was called ‘Shahnawaz.’ However, when Dhanush bagged the role, the character’s name was changed to ‘Danish.’ Clearly, for R Balki, there is a lot in the name.
Amitabh Bachchan lent his voice to Dhanush who reportedly played a deaf and mute junior artiste in the film. Dhanush reportedly did a few dastardly stunts in the film. Does he play an eccentric character in movie? We don’t know yet. But we know for sure that the superstar plays a filmmaker.
Multi starrer in cameo. Film-maker R. Balki has roped in directors Rajkumar Hirani, Gauri Shinde, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Anurag Basu along with lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar and producers Boney Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor to do cameos in the film.They are making cameo appearances and are all playing themselves, like Boney is playing a producer and Javed a writer. But they do not come together but will make appearances in different parts of the film. Like some for a celebration in the film industry, some for a meeting with someone and so on.
The recently released poster of Shamitabh featuring the lead actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush. They are seen in opera-style jackets with their names in lights across an old-fashioned cinema hoarding.. and other poster in background the collage of stills from the film can be seen.
Title mystery…is about the jumbled names of the lead actors resulting it as “shamitabh”. The reason behind the film’s title was that the film had its name derived from the duo’s names in which ‘Sh’ from Dhanush was added as a prefix to Amitabh, therefore becoming Shamitabh.
First time Bollywood film ‘audio poster’ is released featuring Big B.
Picture turned to mixture
In the ‘audio poster,’ a reporter is heard asking Mr Shamitabh when his next “picture will release”. A drunken Shamitabh (played by Big B) answers, “When the audio and video get mixed, how you can call it a picture?” He adds, “It’s not a picture, but a mixture.”
The reporter improvises and asks, “When is your next ‘mixture’ releasing?” and the answer flashes across the clip – Shamitabh will release on February 6, 2015.
Shamitabh became the first Bollywood film to be shot in the Finnish Laplands and in Helsinki.. The crew shot some scenes at the Seven Hills Hospital, the same place where Amitabh Bachchan underwent two abdominal surgeries and saw the birth of Aaradhya, his granddaughter. Some scenes were also shot in London.
