‘Andhadhun’ Movie Review: Powerhouse of nail-biting and jaw dropping thrill

Bollywood is struck with some proclivity towards thrillers off lately. After similar category of movies like Drishyam, Blackmail and Stree the latest to join them is honcho of all these thrillers ‘Andhadhun’.

The film takes us to city of Pune, where the greenary is beautifully highlighted. Ayushmann a singer and pianist by profession who lives in wrecked apartment meant for handicapped individuals. He pretends to be blind because he believes that an Artist gets an inspiration through hardships. This unique belief of his gets him entangled in a murder case. A small mistake makes him blind in reality and he gets trapped in rat and a mouse chase.Enthralling plot and impressive star cast has worked wonders for the movie. Tabu has presented a mind-boggling performance. Her character has two faces. On one hand she is a criminal mastermind and on other she is a conscientious lady. We can see a Striking similarity between Maqbbol’s Nimmi and Andhadhun’s Simi. Both commit crime for their selfish motives and are utterly narcissist womens. Tabu is the substructure of the movie.

Ayushmann is at par with tabu in acting. His execution of body language is flawless. He is brilliant as a blind musician and effortlessly throws his skills at his role. Though Radhika Apte only plays the romantic interest to Ayushmann Khuranna, she influences with her bold and powerful acting. Manav Vij as Inspector Manohar who has extramarital affair with Tabu is good at showcasing mixture of two personality. Terror to the outside world but meek husband at home.

The movie is filled with metaphors. One has to watch without distraction and go on connecting the dots. Struggles faced by blind people are well portrayed. Andhadhun accentuates selfish nature of humans. Every character in the movie turns greedy in order to satisfy their needs and betray one another leading to self ruination. The songs are melodious with fusion of light music and Hardcore punk. A tribute is paid to the old evergreen music.

The end part shows Ayushmann’s stick which has a structure of a rabbit on his walking stick which means he was not blind even after tabu conspired to make him blind. And the last scene where he kicks a can also means he is not blind. There are various interpretations to it but it is left to the audience to keep thinking and guessing. The reason for leaving the climax incomplete was so that the people come up with their own review of the entire film.Sriram Raghavan is the king of revenge, crime, murder and dark movies. After directing films like Ek Hasina thi, Johnny Gaddaar and Badlapur, he detached Andhadhun from his bag. This movie breaks all the records of his earlier thrillers. Andhadhun is among his best artistry till now.

A complete package of brain-teaser, adsurdity, thriller, black comedy, adventure and romance. Andhadhun keeps you at the edge of your Seat till the end. The guess game goes on with elements of shock and twist. Overall Andhadhun does not fail to impress with its bizzare and prolific motif.
