We, the people who are in our twenties belong to a generation that played outside a lot, but we are also the generation that enjoyed the best shows on Disney. Watching Disney was the absolute cool thing to do back then when we were teenagers. The characters were all funny and these shows taught us some serious lessons that probably helped us cope with those difficult years of uncertain adolescence. Above all, the shows on Disney taught us a lot of things. So, why not take a walk down memory lane and list a few best shows of Disney.
Hannah Montana
Miley Cyrus in ‘Hannah Montana’ gave us some amazing style goals and the most amazing quote “the best of both worlds.” Portraying the role of a girl who was secretly a pop star called Hannah Montana; she slid into the role as if she was meant to do it. Little girls dreamt of becoming pop stars when they grew up because of her. The show had moments of slapstick comedy and sometimes emotional moments, all together making it so popular.
Wizards of Waverly Place
‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ was about a family of wizards, the Russo family, who owned an average restaurant. Alex Russo and her siblings Justin and Max and her father. The only non wizard person in the family was the kids’ mother. ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ awoke wonders within us because there was so much magic happening that we almost wanted to own wands and fly around on carpets. This show taught us how not to be too mischievous and how to handle our problems.
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
Oh! How badly I wished I was born a twin after watching ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’. Living in a hotel suite and having all the fun in the world would have been something all kids would enjoy. Zack gave us the first lessons on flirting when he flirted with the hotel store girl Maddy and Cody was such a sweetheart that he gave us the trophy child goals. What we learnt was that we all should have a little bit of both in us.
Jonas
What else could one name a T.V. show about the Jonas Brothers? The band was made up of Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas who were the protagonists of ‘Jonas’. They had the coolest house, wardrobe and personalities. Girls had giant crushes on them; it was obvious that they were all super good looking. That show featured songs which were originally composed by the Jonas Brothers. The show consisted of them treading through daily life trying to be ordinary even though they always had a bodyguard around them. As kids we might have put in a lot of thought to whether we wanted to create bands and be awesome, but now that I think of it, ‘Jonas’ did try to teach kids about humility too.
Phineas and Ferb
One can’t just think about Disney without thinking about Phineas and Ferb; the brothers who invented so many things and that too just on their summer vacation. What did we do, watch T.V. maybe. Phineas and Ferb had a very annoying sister who would never leave a chance to complain about their inventions; and they had a pet platypus who worked for an intelligence agency of some sorts, trying to protect the town from the evil inventions of Doofenshmirtz (the evil scientist). Somehow their parents never found out about all these inventions whether they were creating swinter (summer + winter) in their backyard or rockets. Deep down in my heart, I always wanted their parents to find out.
This was the list of Disney series that got us enthralled as teens. There were way more shows, but these were some that were my personal favorites. Something that was common in most of the shows of Disney was that family was paid a lot of attention to. We grew up learning that we must respect our family because they are an important part of our lives, supporting us through everything. Disney also taught us how to be humorous and how to use sarcasm in the correct way.
