This epic adventure movie stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the lead role. Jones is an utterly handsome college professor of archaeology, who lives a double life as a treasure hunter set out to seek artifacts. This adventurer is lovingly called as Indy or Doctor Jones. Well known for his affinity for his bullwhip and a fedora hat, which add to his personality. The debut film got nominated for nine Academy Awards and won four of them. It’s really charming and I would hugely recommend watching all the 4 movies.
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Released in 1981, this epic action-adventure movie directed by Steven Spielberg is a Blockbuster. Indy clashes with the Nazis to recover the Ark of the Covenant, which is assumed to have the power to conquer the world. Thus Indy sets on an adventure across the world to discover the Ark before the Nazis do. In order to do this, Indy must rove through some of the deadliest booby-traps and overcome his greatest fears, the snakes. Even after Indy’s great efforts, the Nazis capture him and steal the Ark. But it turns out that the Sacred Ark is of no good for them as opening it leads to the death of the Nazis, by energy bolts from the Ark and exploding & melting of heads. Thanks to this head melting scene which adds a wee bit of horror to this adventure masterpiece. Its pretty cool overall and is a must watch for adventure seekers.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Its time to see Indy in action in India. The villagers from someplace in Northern India want Indiana Jones to help retrieve the missing Sankara stones. Trying to get those stones back, Indy faces Mola Ram (Amrish Puri), an evil high priest who offers human sacrifices by ripping people’s hearts out from their chest. Indy is able to retrieves the stones. When stuck on the middle of the bridge and surrounded on both sides by thugs, Indy is left with no choice but to cut the bridge rope. Mola Ram tries to get a hold of the stones but ends up falling in the river below the bridge. Guess what, there’s more lunch for the crocodiles. The film attracts the audience at every point, it’s a great watch.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Ever imagined the world ruled by Nazis with an unstoppable army of Evil. The goose bumps can wait because a wealthy businessman hires Indy to recover the Holy Grail before the Nazis do. Indy rescues his missing father, Henry Jones Sr. held captive in a castle along the German border. Indy teams up with his father to recover the Holy Grail. The dynamic bickering father-son relationship bestows peerless humor. This part is full of jaw dropping chases which includes a boat chase, motorcycle chase, airplane chase and even a tank chase. Will Indy find the Holy Grail and gain eternal life for himself and his father or will the Nazis set out on an expedition with a wild army for conquering the world? Find out by yourself.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull
The swashbuckling archaeologist returns in this movie, released 19 years after the 3rd instalment. Soviets kidnap Indy as his partner Mac turns out to be a double agent working for the Soviets. The Soviets hold Indy and want him to find the aliens so that they can return the crystal skull in order to gain advantage of psychic warfare. Indy’s former lover Marion (Karen Allen) and her son Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), later revealed to be Jones illegitimate son, aid him in his adventure. The soviet Colonel Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) returns the crystal skull to the aliens and asks for knowledge of everything in return. Turns out that it’s impossible to handle such huge information, which results in Spalko’s disintegration. Finally a portal sucks her remains, thats good cleaning I must say. Jones and the others escape and then watch the UFO leave the Earth.
These movies are no doubt but a Top-notch entertainment. Director Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford will return with a 5th installment to the Indiana Jones series. Hope Indy returns with a bang!
