The show opens up, welcoming you with beautiful birthday scenes of four individuals celebrating their 36th birthday, whose lives are much more entangled together than just sharing the same birthday. A fully packed romantic-family drama, This Is Us brings you joy, tears, happiness, sadness, fun, romance, love, laughter and sobs all in one.
Premiered on NBC on September 20, 2016, which might look like a regular clichéd family drama by the outlook, has been nominated Best Television Series – Drama and received ten Emmy nominations in 2017.
The story revolves around the lives of three siblings; Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartle), Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz), and Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown), triplets to Jack Pearson and Rebecca Pearson. Kevin, playing the role of a tv actor is surrounded by all the fame, fans, money, and glory but lives alone in crowded little space of his own heart, seldom finding peace and losing it all over again. Kate plays the role of a beautiful talented singer fighting her way through insecurities of being overweight and being the laughing gag of the people around her. Randall, with the history of being a black abandoned baby outside a fire station on the day he was born and then getting adopted into a white American family, is a character who cares too much and strives too hard for perfection. Amidst these three siblings, is their mother, Rebecca, played strikingly well by Mandy Moore, who is gifted with a beautiful family and a more than perfect husband, but finds herself caught in an estranged relationship with her daughter.
And a piece of advice to all the females out there who are going to fall in love with the character of Jack Pearson, played exceptionally well by Milo Ventimiglia, do not give your guys a hard time trying to cope up with the level of perfection Milo displays, as a boyfriend, a best friend, a husband and a father.Not only are the main characters perfect in their outlook of the show, but the supporting characters have killed it too. Susan Kelechi Watson plays Beth, wife to Randall Pearson, Chris Sullivan plays Toby, the love affair of Kate, Ron Cephas Jones plays the role of Randall’s long lost biological father, giving an impressive and impactful performance, and lastly Jon Huertas, playing Jack’s best friend and getting involved in a love affair with, well, Rebecca.This show will teach you the reality of how the things might not always go as per your plan, how you might intend to do something for someone with a good heart, but end up messing it altogether. Because life is not a straight line, it has its ups and downs, this is how life goes, this is how humans are, this is how we are;
