Why We All Love Psychotic Characters

So what, all films adore you? Do you adore the realistic films like Dallas Buyers Club, Manchester By The Sea or are you more into fantasy films like Harry Potter, fairy tales or those Batman or Avenger films. Now, we relate to those realistic films that’s why we get attached and connect to it. But why do we love the fantasy films which are not even real. Some stories even sound funny, Like a BIG GENIE inside a small lamp. Still we adore those films. Those films with big palaces, heroes, magic. Have you all ever thought, why is that we love such fantasy films. We all know it’s not real but still we admire such films? I’ll tell you why. We love such films because deep down in our heart we want to be there, to feel the Palace, to save the world, to get into Hogwarts. Right? That’s why we find it interesting.

The same thing goes for those psychotic characters in the films. Everybody loves The Joker, yes I know you love him. Now why do you love Joker, I know heath ledger performed that role with utter brilliancy, but it was a hit even before he played that role and also even before Jack Nicholson performed that character. The reason is the WISH. We the people of this civilized world cannot just kill anybody, cannot just torture or torment anybody. It is because we have laws and government. Just imagine a world without laws, or governments. Now imagine, will you be this civilized in that world? Maybe not. We sometimes wish very worse things about a person. But we don’t do it because we have laws. This is the reason why we love psychotic characters like The Joker from the BATMAN movies, Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs or Hannibal Lecter from Silence Of The Lambs. These characters don’t care about the laws or the government. They do whatever they wish and are unpredictable and dangerous at the same time. They are free, they don’t think of this world or their consequences, they do whatever their instincts tell them to do. Deep down we all wish to do whatever we like. Now I’m not saying you should just go and kill anybody, anywhere. I’m just presenting you the anatomy of our psychology. The things which we can’t be, attracts us more than the things which we can. Like imagine yourself being The Batman, the righteous man Captain America. Now the good attracts us but the bad allure us as well, like The Joker, Mr. Blonde or Norman Bates of Psycho. We all love to see Hannibal Lecter dissect people, I’m not saying we amuse the gory scenes, but we like the dangerous and gray shade of that character.

But have we ever thought, why are these characters doing these things? Maybe they have a history. Now nobody’s born a psychopath. The Joker, it might be possible that he was tortured when he was a child and that is why his faith over humanity has vanished. And that’s why he became The Joker to bring out the evil in every people. So that they’ll come out of the illusion that everybody is good and nobody’s evil. These kind of characters are penned down by taking into consideration our real life events and the fact that we accept these characters is our reality. This proves how close these characters are from our real lives. Terrifying right, but it’s the harsh truth. Now many people will say,”Naah I can’t be such a big psychopath, no way”. Many a times we think how can he do such a thing. Why is he killing everybody. We all have a breaking point, a resisting point, but when someone crosses that point, we react. Now the reaction is what differentiate people. Some people doesn’t react, some people react harshly and some people react very harshly, for eg. By killing somebody. That’s what makes them pass that point. Now breaking the point once, may not turn them into a psychopath, but a persistent mental torcher can. Now the psychotic characters looks cool, sounds cool, execute things that are cool. But actually their brains are so fucked up, that we can’t even imagine what’s going on inside their head. The basic thing is that, we deep down wish to be that perilous person capable of doing anything. But what stops us from doing that, is our Batman, our Captain America inside us. Our good stops us from our evil just like in the movies. So guys and girls stay that way, because a psychopath is good in the reel life, not in real life.
