A Lannister always pays his debts!

Game of Thrones - 2015

Tyrion Lannister, one of the most extravagantly portrayed characters of the tremendously popular series Game of Thrones. Lannister as also known as The Imp. or The Halfman is amongst the top list favourites of the major crowd that is watching this series. And yes almost everybody is in love with the wit and the wisdom of Tyrion Lannister.

Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) started his acting debut with the film ‘Living in Oblivion’ in which he played the part of a frustrated dwarf character which paved the way for his breakout role in ‘The Station Agent’. Before being an actor, Peter was a singer and a part of the rash and wacky rock band Whizzy. He is a pretty good singer and he has even teamed up with the Coldplay, where he has perfectly intertwined the permanency of Game of Thrones and the Tyrion Lannister in a melody.

“It’s not easy being drunk all the time. If it were easy, everyone would do it” – Tyrion Lannister

He was the first member to be confirmed in the Game of Throne series. He was the first and the only choice by the makers for the role of Tyrion.  However, it is said that the famous Halfman had almost rejected the role since he was concerned about the evident dwarf look every series had. Dinklage said that he never wanted a long beard and pointed shoes and as we all know the Lannister role had nothing to do with the accustomed and usual appearance. He was assured that the character is a drunkard and a womanizer and he went on signing the show.

‘I like animals, all animals. I wouldn’t hurt a cat or a dog – or a chicken or a cow. And I wouldn’t ask someone else to hurt them for me. That’s why I’m a vegetarian’, words quoted by Peter Dinklage.

Well, one of the most amusing revelations is that he is a vegetarian. In most of the scenes of Game of Thrones, he is either eating tofu or fake meat. He also recently did a Face your Food video with PETA because he has always respected animals. In this video, he PETA has asked the viewers to sign a pledge to go vegan. Although the love and respect for animals came from childhood. His family had a habit of collecting creatures that didn’t always want to be pets and the first pet he can remember was a Lab named Zoe.

Here’s a short glimpse of the video:

He is one of eight actors “Who Turn Television Into Art”. This compliment was bestowed on him by the New York Times in 2011. The statement stands true as he is one of the finest actors in the Game of Thrones series. Dinklage was nominated for Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a drama series for his work on Thrones. He went on to win the award at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony in September. On January 15, 2012, he won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Golden Globe Awards for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

He doesn’t let his size define or overshadow his talent – but, perhaps because of that very fact, there’s no denying that Dinklage is now one of the most famous and successful smaller people in the world. And as his famous quote from the series goes with him “Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you”.
