It came out in 1995 and is directed by Martin Scorsese. This film is based on a nonfiction book titled Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas which is written by Nicholas Pileggi.

The film’s plot was set in 1973 when a low-level mobster played by Robert De Niro was asked to head the Tanglers Casinos in Las Vegas. He was initially successful at running the said casino but as years go by, he starts having problems concerning his loose-cannon enforcer played by Joe Pesci, an ex-wife who is played by Sharon Stone, and more characters in the film.

It’s a hit for many De Niro and Scorsese collaboration fans and it’s a box office film. The movie’s budget was 40 to 50 million USD and it earned 10 million USD in its opening weekend. In total, it earned 116 million USD from worldwide sales.

A top critic on Rotten Tomatoes who is also from Miami Herald, Rene Rodriguez, left a review on the film and said, “Casino is nothing less than an epic, three hours long, with a cast of hundreds, stuffed with great victory and even greater tragedy.” It has a 91 audience score on the same website.

James Bond 007 – Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale came out in 2006 but it showcases one of the most-followed fictional spies of all time, James Bond. This movie is the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming’s novel with the same title and it stars English actor Daniel Craig. It is directed by Martin Cambell and produced by Eon Productions for MGM and Columbia Pictures.

The movie follows British Secret Service agent James Bond after he received a license to kill and was promoted as a 00 agent. He was tasked to fly to Madagascar and assassinate a traitorous section chief and his contact. However, his trip to the place has uncovered links to finance terrorist organizations who are involved in raising money in high-stake poker games which Craig’s character had to play as well.

The film was a sure-fire hit and landed at the box office. It wasn’t just the 4th highest-grossing film in 2006 but it’s also the highest-grossing installment of the James Bond Series before Skyfall came out in 2012. In total, the film earned over 606 million USD worldwide.

Hindustan Times top critic Udita Jhunjhunwala took her thoughts to Rotten Tomatoes and said, Bond, is back. Bond is beefy. And the new Bond is blond. Daniel Craig has comfortably slipped into the tuxedo, size 007, and left audiences shaken and stirred.” The film has an average of 94 on the Tomatometer.

Ocean’s Eleven (2001)
